Step 2: Put a colon or semicolon for the eyes; : or ;

Step 3: Put a hyphen for the nose; -

Step 4: Put a zero, an O, or a D for the mouth; 0 or O or D

Step 5: Put a closing parenthesis for the bottom of the head; )

Step 6: Put a hyphen for the neck; -

Step 7: Put a fancy bracket thingy for the arms; {

Step 8: Put two hyphens for the body; --

Step 9: Put a less than sign for the legs; <
